Lavender Ranch, Biggs CA

Driving southbound on Highway 99, I always see the sign for Lavender Ranch and their Health & Beauty Products. This Valentine's week, I decided to go in and see what it was like.

The Lavender Ranch (also Bayliss Ranch),is a beautiful spot with a farmhouse transformed into a lovely shop, filled with the scent of Lavender.

"Family owned and operated since 1865", this is truly a special place to find unique gifts and beauty lotions, oils, and cleansing soaps. Each product has more than a 1,000 lavender blossoms in each bottle.

Along with Bayliss Botanicals, Lavender Ranch offers the purest Lavender distillation on location.
Their products can be found on their website, http://www.lavenderranch.com .

Outfit of the Day #2

Whoops, I guess this is really Outfit of the Day #3 (see Spring Wardrobe). Tea Time at Empire Coffee I got this outfit at Shalom Free Thrift Store ($15!). It's by Mic Mac. I love the print design and the bright blue color. It's the 60's style, mod print.  Perfect to get me in the mood for spring. Though it's a bit hot to wear it with the black turtle neck I was wearing. By the way, this is the outfit I wore when I went to Home At Last Thrift & Gift , to take pictures.  I'm so glad I found two guys to model clothes for me, because shopping should be for all genders! Thanks again to Jack and Jon!

Q Ginger Ale

It's not champagne, it's Ginger Ale! I picked this up at Raley's and decided to try it.  It has organic Agave, Ginger extract, extract of lemon juice, coriander, cardamom, cayenne, orange peel and rose oil. It tastes really good and is a good non-alcoholic drink to bring to any party.  Description "Ginger ale for adults"  www.qginger.com

Home At Last Thrift And Gift

This is a great place to find clothing! I drove by this place some time ago and had reviewed it for The Synthesis.  Today I stopped in again to look for shoe racks--you can never have enough shoes. Jack, CSU Student Thrift shopping isn't just for women, there are plenty of men's clothing also. In fact, I found a couple of guys to model some outfits for me. Jack, my first model, had never been in a thrift store before. He and his friends drove by Thrift & Gift to check out what they had. Shirt by GAP Pants by Halden Front Design When asked if he would wear this outfit everyday, Jack said, "The Pants, yeah...not the shirt." Jack's not a graphic tee guy. Back Design But that's okay, anyone else who likes graphic tees would probably like the selection at Thrift & Gift. Jon, CSU Student Jon, also a CSU student was nice enough to try on this outfit. The belt really sets off t

Chrysanthemum Tea

Chrysanthemum Tea, ( Chinese : 菊花茶; pinyin : júhuā chá) --wikipedia.org I picked this up at an asian market (99 Cents Only) in Concord, CA. I tried the packaged version but never the actual Chrysanthemum blossoms, which smell very nice. Tian Hu Shan, the brand, also feature Rose tea, another great tasting tea that I highly recommend.  You can put the tea blossoms into a pot and pour boiling water over them to steep. Be sure to filter out the blossoms before you pour, otherwise it will clog the tea pot spout. You may steep the blossoms many times but the flavor will not be as strong.  Chrysanthemum tea is very sweet and you don't really need sugar for it. Honey is the best choice if you like your tea sweeter. The rose teas are often more strong, so I suggest not steeping the blossoms for too long. The tea consists of actual rose-buds, sometimes mixed with green tea.  You can find more tea information at: http://steepster.com/companies/tian-hu-sh
